WHO WE ARE

The Jindojazz Story

Jindojazz is a media production company founded by Barbara Bentree and John Rangel.  Barbara and John are multiple Award-Winning professional Musicians, Filmmakers and Producers. This creative team was previously based in Pacific Palisades, CA.  After many years of working for other companies and other artists, they decided to move their operations to New Mexico to produce their own projects. 
 
The Jindojazz mission is to create POSITIVE IMAGES FOR THE PLANET. Quality content is of utmost importance and our projects often have music as a central component.

Currently, Jindojazz has films, books, and musicals in production that are designed to inspire change in regard to:
  • Environmental Protection
  • Women and Girls' Empowerment
  • Animal Welfare
  • Jazz Music
 
Jindojazz is happily centered in beautiful Santa Fe. The New Mexico cultural and visual landscape provides an incredibly fertile environment for creativity. 



Barbara Bentree

​Barbara Bentree is a multiple Award-Winning filmmaker and vocalist who previously worked for over two decades in Los Angeles. Bentree took First Place in the prestigious Hennessey Jazz Search with her acapella vocal group TERRA NOVA.  Barbara has directed theatre companies, and produced music for television shows. She was most notably a part of The New Mickey Mouse Club production team on The Disney Channel where she auditioned and selected Ryan Gosling, Kerri Russell, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Rhona Bennett, and Tony Lucca for the show, to name only a few. 

Now an Award-Winning Filmmaker, Bentree previously directed and produced a Documentary short film titled "MY CHOICE" about women who choose not to have children. Her second film titled "SHOULD YOU GO?" (spans 40 years of production) about High School Reunions.  

Barbara's most recent film, "DAVE GRUSIN: NOT ENOUGH TIME" has appeared in numerous film festivals all over the world winning such diverse awards as "Best Documentary," "Best Biography," "Best Editing," "Award of Excellence" and "Audience Favorite" among many others. This documentary also qualified for the 2019 Oscar Awards and Grammy Awards competitions.

Jindojazz has just released Bentree's fourth Documentary film titled, "ORIGAMI IN THE GARDEN" and it is currently touring film festivals around the world winning many awards including "Best Feature Film," "Best Documentary," "Best Female Filmmaker," "Best Musical Score," "Best Inspirational Film," and many others.

Barbara is also in development on eight narrative film projects.

Ms. Bentree has been a Board Member for New Mexico Women In Film, The Academy for New Musical Theatre, Theatre Palisades, and a member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

John Rangel

​J​ohn Rangel is a multiple Award-Winning Musician and Producer. He previously owned a recording studio in Pacific Palisades, CA for over a decade. John is a frequently sought after pianist, composer, and producer working in a variety of mediums. He has performed in some of the most prestigious venues and festivals all over the world including Europe, Africa, and Japan. As a jazz pianist he has written more than 400 original compositions.  

IJohn has been involved in the music production teams for "Dave Grusin: Not Enough Time," "Cold Mountain," "Levity," "Appaloosa," "Heartbreakers," "Thor," "Flags of Our Fathers" "My Choice," "Origami In The Garden," and he had a recurring role on "The John Laroquette Show" on television. Rangel was also part of the music staff for several television shows produced by The Disney Channel.  

​Rangel is currently partnered with Barbara Bentree in the development of original screenplays, films, podcasts, and a jazz series for television.
